Book Ladder Challenge

Book Ladder Challenge

Enjoy reading books? Excited by a challenge? Love being rewarded for fantastic achievements?
If so, the Prenderland Book Ladder Challenge is perfect for you!

Just read our five steps below and start the challenge as soon as you are ready.  If you like, you could also ask your friends and family if they want to join in too.  You could encourage each other along the way and share stories about the books you have read. Swapping books is also a great way to share books you have enjoyed and get others in return.

REMEMBER! there is no rush to complete the challenge.  The most important thing is to have lots of fun reading the books and writing wonderful reviews.  So, please read at your own speed and spend as much time as you like thinking about and writing up the book reviews.

We really hope that our Book Ladder Challenge inspires you to read and review books all year round.

Step 1 - Read a Book

There are so many fantastic books to read, the tricky thing will be deciding which one to begin with. So take your time and choose one of your favourite books or a book you have never read before and then start reading!

Step 2 - Complete a Book Review Sheet

Once you have finished reading the book, print off and complete our colourful book review sheet. Have fun creating a tongue twister and don’t forget to give the book a score out of five by colouring in the images of Prenders the Parrot.

Please ensure you have read our Reprint Policy and then have a great time completing the Book Review Sheet.

Step 3 - Climb a Book Ladder

Decide how many books you would like to read as part of the Book Ladder Challenge and then pick the size of ladder that you need.  If you would like to read more than 20 books as part of the challenge, please feel free to use more than one of the ladders. For example, using the 5, 10, 15 and 20 ladders would result in you having read and reviewed 50 books!

Start climbing the book ladder by writing the title of the book you have reviewed on a rung of the ladder.

Please ensure you have read our Reprint Policy and then have a great time completing the Book Ladders.

Step 4 - Repeat!

Repeat steps one, two and three until you have climbed to the top of a book ladder, or even better, a number of book ladders!

Step 5 - Certificate

Congratulations!!!  You have earned yourself a well-deserved certificate.

Please print off a certificate, write your name on it and show it to your friends and family.  Perhaps you will inspire them to take part in the Book Ladder Challenge too.

Please ensure you have read our Reprint Policy and then be very proud when your name is on a certificate.

What Next?

You could have lots of fun doing it all over again, but this time try to challenge yourself even further!

If you did the five book challenge this time, why not challenge yourself with the ten book challenge or the twenty book challenge or even the super-duper fifty book challenge!!

Sharing a photograph of the completed book review sheets and book ladders on Social Media would really help us to inspire others to take part in the Book Ladder Challenge. If parents or guardians of children taking part would like to share photos of these with us, that would be fantastic.  It would also mean that we could enjoy reading the wonderful book reviews that the children have written.
